Human Genome Project (HGP

                           HUMAN GENOME PROJECT (HGP)

What is HPG ?

The Human Genome Project (HGP) was the international, collaborative research program whose goal was the complete mapping and understanding of all the genes of human beings. All our genes together are known as our "genome."

The hereditary material, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which contains al of our genes. DNA are made up of 4 nucleic acids guanine, adenine, cytosine and thymine. All genes are made up of stretches of these four bases, arranged in different ways and in different lengths. HGP researchers have deciphered the human genome in three major ways:
  1. determining the order, or "sequence," of all the bases in our genome's DNA
  2. making maps that show the locations of genes for major sections of all our chromosomes
  3. producing what are called linkage maps, complex versions of the type originated in early Drosophila research, through which inherited traits (such as those for genetic disease) can be tracked over generations.
HGP has given the world a resource of detailed information about the structure, organization and function of the complete set of human genes. This information can be thought of as the basic set of inheritable "instructions" for the development and function of a human being.

HISTORY
The project began with the culmination of several years of work supported by the US Department of Energy. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to understand the human genome and knowledge of the human is as necessary to the continuing progress of medicine and other health sciences as knowledge of human anatomy has been for the present state of medicine. The proposal was made by Dr. Alvin Trivelpiece and was approved by Deputy Secretary William Flynn Martin.James D. Watson was head of the National Center for Human Genome Research at the National Institutes of Health in the United States starting from 1988.

  ADVANTAGE IN PHARMACY
Medicine will be help to improve diagnosis of diseases, early detection of genetic diseases and gene therapy. Genetic has also the potential to reveal the differences between the individuals so that suitable treatment can be prescribed and national drug design can be undertaken. Thus treatment can be more focused and effective based on individual requirement.Personal dosage will possible for different type of individual. Thus we can provide effective therapeutic without worried on toxicity development. Study in microbial genomics can develop vaccines, antibiotics, and diagnostics for infectious diseases.

IN FUTURE
Each person will have their own genome maps. They will be some important document related to our healthy. They might possibility that our carer will be choose from our map. Maybe those genome will help in knowing ourself in chracteristic and personality. Still future contain high possibility and maybe our genome are sell in market.

 SELLING MAP
 TO UNDERSTAND SOMEONE OR OURSELF
